pseudo-medieval costume by Lathron pseudo-medieval costume by Lathron
This is my insight of a early medieval celtic/germanic warrior's outfit. Looted gladius, woollen pants, shirt, mittens and cloak, and chainmail with scalearmour reinforcement. Okay, it's not fully historically precise, but i'd say parts of it are quite close.

Of this set, I've made the brassparts, the leathercoat, the cloak and the helmet.

I'm liking the concept of the hodgepodge equipment. You're right: a Germanic warrior would probably have looted most of his equipment from the battlefield, and brought it home to rebuild and reclaim. It just seems fitting for that truly badass group of fighters.

Well, in a way yes. BUT (I like big buts). The romans actually did looting too. They looted consepts. The idea of gladius was looted from celtiberians, as the last roman helmet-consept was from gaels. But I get yout point mr. Even in the medieval times armies scavenged the battlefield in hope for fitting pieces of armour. They were VERY expensive stuff, of which one's life hanged of. Surely they looted. And think the sword not just as a loot, but maybe even more as a trophy.
